Portola Valley Vegetated Geogrid

Woodside, CA

Dary Kabcennel (property owner)
Fall 2000

Hanford ARC was contracted to assist with the installation of a 90 foot-long by 10 foot-tall vegetated geogrid. Hanford ARC provided specialized crews and supervision, working with the bridge contractor, who provided operated heavy equipment. Hanford ARC harvested the willows at a designated site, for incorporation into the soil lifts, as well as pole planting in the rock toe protection.

Due to the length and slope of the face of the soil lifts, we used forms driven on the face of each lift when compacting the soil. This technique prevents sagging of the fabric, improving both the appearance and the function.
