Corte Madera 4-acre Tidal Marsh Restoration Project

Restoration of 4 acres of tidal wetlands and 0.3 acres of seasonal wetlands at the District's property adjacent to the Corte Madera Ecological Reserve to create suitable habitat for the endangered Ridgway rail.

The work included excavation of approximately 32,000 cubic yards of soil, excavation of tidal channels within the new marsh plain and reusing excavated material on site to create a new berm and trail. Revegetation at the site included approximately 10 acres of hydroseeding and 17,000 native plants with an irrigation system for the upland areas. New site amenities included fencing with gates, public access signs, interpretive panels, trash receptacles and benches.
