KAREN ALTON

  • Karen started as Hanford’s Director of Human Resources in 2016 where she immediately began managing, directing, and implementing policies for all areas of the human resources function including staffing, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, safety and compliance. Along with bringing over 15 years of human resource experience with her, she also holds two human resources certificates, PHR and SHRM-CP. Karen is passionate about the wonderful work Hanford does for the environment and the projects that we are continually undertaking to improve the environment for the future.

DALIA CABALLERO

  • Dalia joined the Hanford team in 2017 as an assistant to the Vice President and has since been promoted to become our Compliance Administrator. Her role is to ensure Hanford complies with state and local regulations while maintaining a high ethical standard with our clients and achieving company goals. Dalia’s attention to detail, analytical thinking abilities, and time management skills can flourish in this position. She loves being able to see the continued growth and innovation that Hanford brings to the industry through its environmental work and employee development.

Melina Esquivel

Payroll/HR Supervisor

  • Melina began as Hanford’s Payroll Specialist at the end of 2020. She is responsible for managing and processing Hanford’s weekly payroll as well as submitting the certified payroll. Melina is equipped with 6 years of experience in construction accounting and administration, including 2 years of payroll experience working for subcontractors and general contractors in the Bay Area. She is excited to work for a growing company that restores ecosystems and has high quality standards and strong values. Melina is excited to be involved with a team that invests in the future of their employees.

  • Doug established Hanford in 1984. Beginning as a small environmental landscape and stream work company, he founded the company with a desire to work on serious environmental problems that were at the local forefront. Hanford has now firmly established itself in the ecological restoration niche though client relations, a firm business model, and an emphasis of company values. Doug continues to serve the company by supporting day-to-day operations, votes on the company’s board, and guides the company’s growth and mission. Doug is committed to maintaining Hanford’s leading role in the industry while meeting challenges and embracing opportunities.

Cindy Orme

Estimating & Contracting Administrator

  • Cindy began working for Hanford in 2019 as an Estimating Coordinator. Her current title is Estimating and Contracting Coordinator since her job has progressed to include job contracting coordination. Cindy organizes all aspects of the bidding process; she ensures that all bidding paperwork is properly formatted, accurate, and delivered in a timely manner. Cindy brings with her over 25 years of experience in the civil engineering construction industry. She is enthusiastic about the number of bid prospects that fall into Hanford’s growing niche of environmentally sensitive work.

  • Eric began with Hanford in 2014 as a laborer and advanced to become our Safety Coordinator in 2018. In this role, he helps and supports Superintendents and Foreman with, safety questions, providing proper PPE, and to make sure we are always OSHA compliant. Eric has acquired many certifications in his time at Hanford, including, COSS, OSHA510, OSHA7505, HAZWOPER 40-hour, OSHA 30-hour, Competent Person, and First aid CPR. He is passionate about the company’s growth, the direction it is heading, and how Hanford gives equal opportunity to all employees to move up in the company.

Patrick Downs

Land Management Superintendent

  • Patrick joined Hanford in 2015 and became a Land Management Superintendent in 2017. As the lead Superintendent in our Land Management Division, Patrick is responsible for overseeing foremen, crew leaders, operators and laborers, managing Land Management equipment resources, purchasing materials, conducting crew trainings, and tracking project production and quality. He has his Qualified Applicator Certificate, Bay-Friendly Landscaping Certification, and the QWEL (Qualified Water-Efficient Landscaper) Certification. Patrick is enthusiastic about the training opportunities that Hanford can provide for every member of the current and future team, and the expansion of work into new areas of California.

Pat Meehan

Construction Services Superintendent

  • Pat joined the Hanford team in 2011 as a laborer and is now our lead Superintendent for the Construction Services Division. He manages the Construction Services Division crew and equipment resources and is involved at a detailed field level whenever needed. Pat oversees over 100 projects annually, responds accordingly to emergency calls for stormwater support, and is also always on call receiving task order requests from on-call clients. Pat has been an integral part to the expansion and growth of the Construction Services Division. He is excited to see the Construction Services Division continue to grow and looks forward to seeing what they can accomplish in the future.

Victor Navarrete

  • Victor has over 25 years of supervisory experience in landscape construction and maintenance, including over 12 years specializing in habitat restoration and revegetation. Victor received his Associate of Science in Environmental Horticultural from Sierra College, Rocklin, California. He began working for Hanford in 2017, constructing ecological restoration projects including wetland‐floodplain restoration and revegetation, soil bioengineering, native plant installation, and non‐native invasive species management.

    As Project Manager, Victor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to project planning, organization, and coordination, contract and subcontract execution, establishment and maintenance of a cohesive project CPM schedule, and any other project preparation and completion activities.

KEVIN SMITH

Project Manager

  • Kevin is an accomplished multi-disciplinary professional and holds a BS in Civil Engineering at Colorado State University. He has been in the construction and engineering industry with more than 27 years working a variety of technically challenging projects with both public and private sector agencies including State, City & County agencies throughout the Pacific Northwest region, Army Corp of Engineers, Colorado Department of Transportation, New Zealand Ministry of Transportation & Agriculture to AT&T, Verizon, META (formerly Facebook).

    His key strengths use a collaborative approach in leading teams on technically challenging projects including disciplines such as ecosystem restoration, wetlands construction, mine tailing reclamation, airport runway and highway construction, and vertical construction including commercial buildings and high-end custom residential.

    Kevin has key strengths of project management, LEAN construction, Civil & Structural Engineering, Stormwater & Watershed management (SWPPP, NPDES), Environmental law and controls with permitting and right-of-way acquisitions.

Asha Virlouvet

  • Asha began working at Hanford in 2016 as an Assistant Project Manager. Now as our Director of Operations, she is responsible for oversight of the compliance, IT, and general operations departments. She provides planning to support strategic business goals and oversees Hanford’s fleet management program. Asha has extensive experience in operations from working in the field through project management as well as being the Operations Manager. She is excited to continue her support of the field operations through helping provide them with what they need to continue to produce quality ecological restoration.
